A team of three students from Russia proved their brainy prowess Wednesday, winning an academic competition in which they had just five hours to solve perplexing computing puzzles such as how to connect gears of a clock when given a specific shaft speed.

There’s some evidence suggesting the tax-free ride on Internet purchases maybe coming to an end. Tax authorities in the United States are taking a closer look at iTunes, which are considered software downloads.
But the burden falls to the purchaser not the seller. Purchasers are going to be required to pay the little used “Use” tax.

Distributing a press release to editors and news organizations is only half the battle. Writing a press release that will be published by the media is equally important. Press releases are public relations opportunities. A well written press release, can generate exposure in publications that could be worth thousands in advertising dollars, for a fraction of the cost.
Apple announced an expansion of its recycling program, offering free computer take-back and recycling with the purchase of a new Macintosh system beginning in June.
US customers who buy a new Mac through the Apple Store or Apple’s retail stores will receive free shipping and environmentally friendly disposal of their old computer as part of the Apple Recycling program.
Apple’s free take-back program will extend Apple’s existing US recycling program, which has recycled more than 90 percent of electronic equipment collected since 2001.
